356 Beach 88th Street, New York City, NY 11693

Long before Rockaway Beach became the vibrant, year-round community it is today, its original bungalows offered a summer escape from the city. Most were seasonal homes built on shared lots, making financing difficult, even now. This home offers the same sense of escape, but with its own tax lot, it offers something most others can’t: the ability to purchase with a traditional mortgage. Enjoy beautiful sunsets on your front porch, dinners in your private backyard, and cozy nights by the fire in this 1920s bungalow, reimagined for today: open and airy with cathedral ceilings, sunny windows on all sides, and ample storage throughout. Modern luxuries include a Jøtul gas stove, Jacuzzi tub, large capacity washer and dryer, and solar panels to offset utility costs. The private, decked in backyard extends the living space outdoors, with room for dining, relaxing, and entertaining. Built-in storage keeps surfboards, beach gear, and outdoor essentials neatly tucked away. Whether you’re looking for a main residence or simply a getaway, this low-maintenance, turnkey home is a comfortable alternative to a coop or condo. Located just off Jamaica Bay near Bay Breeze Park and only a few blocks from the beach, boardwalk, and local favorites like Bungalow Bar, The Rockaway Beach Surf Club, and The Rockaway Hotel, it’s easy to enjoy everything that draws people to the Rockaways. The A/S trains around the corner and express buses and Wall Street Ferry nearby mean the city is always within easy reach, allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
