Manhasset
Manhasset is located on the North Shore of Long Island in Nassau County about 20 miles from Manhattan. Part of its northwest corner borders Manhasset Bay. With its proximity to NYC and its highly rated schools, Manhasset is a popular town for many.
In addition to the unincorporated areas of Manhasset proper – Bayview, North and South Strathmore, Strathmore Village, Strathmore Vanderbilt, Shorehaven, Terrace Manor, and Norgate – Manhasset also includes three incorporated villages: Munsey Park, Plandome, and Plandome Heights; and parts of three others: Flower Hill, Plandome Manor, and North Hills. Home values for comparable properties are similar in the unincorporated hamlet and the incorporated villages. Homes in the hamlet of Manhasset tend to be smaller than those in the surrounding villages.
Manhasset is home to the Americana Manhasset, a high-end premium open-air shopping center situated along Northern Boulevard’s “Miracle Mile. The area around the shops on Plandome Road and the train station — the neighborhoods of Shorehaven, Terrace Haven, Norgate and Bayview — is referred to as “town” and includes a number of small shops and restaurants. Chain stores, churches and car dealerships line Northern Boulevard.
Commute to Penn Station via LIRR
The LIRR stops at Manhasset and Plandome stations for a quick 30-40 minute commute to Penn Station, depending on whether you catch an express train.
Fun Facts
“Miracle Mile” was appropriately coined by Billy Joel in “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” as a place where you need “a whole lotta money.”
