Williamsburg
In Williamsburg, you will find a contemporary art scene, a youthful care-free culture, a vibrant nightlife and incredible cultural diversity. In 2005, much of the Williamsburg waterfront district was rezoned to accommodate mixed-use high density residential buildings. The neighborhood changed from manufacturing and light industry to primarily residential use. You will find converted warehouses, new luxury condo development, as well as walk-ups and rowhouses. Popular restaurants, bars and breweries line the streets, and McCarren Park and the waterfront offer respite from the bustling street life.

Fun Facts
Perhaps one day we will see the Brooklyn-Queens Connector (BQX) built. The BQX is a light rail system that would run along the waterfront from Red Hook through Williamsburg to Astoria. Given the cost of the project (currently estimated to be $2.7 billion), the projected opening has been delayed until at least 2029. Do you think it will take as long to see the BQX to fruition as it took to see the first leg of the 2nd Avenue subway built?
