East Harlem stretches roughly from East 97th Street to East 142nd Street between 5th Avenue and the Harlem River in Manhattan. During the last building cycle, a number of luxury apartments were created in the neighborhood, attracting young professionals looking for a more affordable type of Manhattan homeownership with proximity to subway lines and Central Park.
The East Harlem real estate market still presents some of the most affordable living in Manhattan, in its diverse array of walk-ups, brownstones and low-rises. Portions of the neighborhood in the low 100s near Lexington Avenue flooded during Hurricane Sandy, so buyers in those areas should do their diligence.
In East Harlem, you will find a diverse mix of cultural backgrounds and fusion restaurants, emitting the smells and tastes of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Nearest Subways
Train will serve the neighborhood with a terminus at 125th Street when completed.
