Bedford-Stuyvesant

Bedford-Stuyvesant

Bedford-Stuyvesant, or Bed-Stuy, is one of the largest neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Bounded by Classon Street, Atlantic Avenue, Broadway and Park Avenue, the neighborhood covers a lot of ground between Clinton Hill, Crown Heights and Bushwick. It has two gorgeous historic districts – the recently-designated Bedford Historic District and the Stuyvesant Heights Historic District, where you will find some of the borough’s most incredible brownstone architecture. Residents (particularly on the brownstone studded side streets) have a strong sense of community, and often, you will see people on their stoops spending time with their neighbors. Over the last 5-10 years, prices for homes in Bed-Stuy have risen dramatically, especially on the neighborhood’s western border with Clinton Hill and southern border near the A and C train stations, where 1, 2 and 3-family homes regularly fetch in excess of $2M. The best value in the neighborhood is found in Stuyvesant Heights (outside of the historic district) and in the southeastern Ocean Hill section of the neighborhood, where developers have been building condos and flipping houses. There seems to be an endless appetite for investment in this neighborhood, so prices continue to go up.
