Murray Hill / Kips Bay
Since the late 1990s, many young post-undergrad adults have flocked to Murray Hill and Kips Bay for their more affordable rentals and neighborhood comradery. Murray Hill and Kips Bay are bounded by 42nd Street, 23rd Street, Park Avenue and the East River, and there is a large restaurant and bar scene along Third Avenue. Its proximity to Midtown makes it an easy commute and one of the most convenient neighborhoods in the City. The western blocks of Murray Hill are home to gorgeous brownstones, while Kips Bay’s architecture is largely post-war mid- and high- rise rentals, co-ops and condos. NYU Langone’s vast hospital campus can be found anchoring the eastern side of 1st Avenue in the 30s.
